Basic Singing

Three basic vocal registers: chest voice, mid voice, head voice.

Chest voice: are usually used in the start of the song, where usually the lower range of notes are. Voice seem to be resonating out of your chest area. If you move from mid voice to chest voice, you can feel the movement of your voice from the throat to the chest. It gives bass to your voice. However, because of the bass it generates, articulation of the words have to be better if not the words would seem to be muffled.

Mid voice: usually bulk of the song, for notes that are in the mid range. Voice would resonate from the throat region. Usually when we speak, the voice that resonates is mid voice.

Head Voice: Usually used at the chorus or the higher notes. It is a very useful register, but is difficult to achieve as well. Basically, the Chin has to be up (you would look like as though you are smiling), and jaw down( opening up the mouth). More practice would definitely Help. The voice would feel like its resonating from the cheekbone area, for higher notes, seem as though its resonating from "above". The important thing is to relax the jaw and throat, so you don't strain them. The more you strain, the more you are unable to reach the high notes.
